SUMMARY:CITY FOR ALL?
DESCRIPTION:[su_divider margin="5"]\nAs part of Bonjour India Festival –
2022\nAlliance Française de Delhi invites you to\n\n\nCITY FOR ALL?\n\n\n
A public art festival questioning the place of gender in cities\n\n\n\nOur
interaction with urban planning ends up putting women\, queer folks and t
he marginalized at a disadvantage. City For All? will make you question th
e design\, planning and architecture of cities and built spaces in India f
rom the intersectional lens of gender\, age\, ability\, class and caste.\n
 \n\n\n\n\nDate &amp\; Time\n7th -8th May\, 2022 | 11 am - 7 pm\n\n\nVenue\
 n\nBikaner House\, Pandara Road\, India Gate\, ND – 11\n\n\n\nHow to joi
n?\n◉ Free viewing\, open to all\n◉ Please carry your photo ID proof\n
 ◉ Covid-19 protocol\n\n\n\nLet’s take a quick quiz! Did you walk the s
treets past midnight? Sat at a roadside stall and had tea? Found a toilet
to pee when you needed one? Took a bus without fear of harassment? Laid do
wn in a park and took a nap?\n\nIf the majority of your answers are ‘yes
’\, there is a high chance you are an able-bodied cis-man hailing from a
dominant caste and religion.\n\nPublic spaces and their access are not ge
nder-neutral. Look around and you will realise that they are mostly occupi
ed by fully grown\, able-bodied\, upper caste\, young cis-gendered heteros
exual men\, who feel free\, powerful and in control of these spaces.\n\n[s

]\n\nThe project will travel across 36 diverse neighbourhoods across 6 cit
ies in India in order to map the communities’ response to their immediat
e public spaces. Every map will bring out city-level patterns on how we us
e our public spaces based on our gender\, age and abilities as well as the
local diversity of economic background\, class and caste.\n\nA final exhi
bition will showcase the maps\, with discourses\, dialogues\, public debat
es and curated walks in each city attempting to give visibility to a much-
needed question: who builds our cities\, and for whom?\n\n[su_heading size
