bsp\;\n\nAs a dance form\, electro was invented in the suburbs of Paris in
the 2000s. The unique dance style has continuously evolved since then to
become synonymous with explosive but precise movements. Join us on an elec
trifying journey as we bring to you ELEKTRIK – a performance that rewrit
es what electro-dance means itself.\n\nELEKTRIK is the brainchild of Blan
ca Li who is credited as being one of the greatest masters of urban dance.
 \n\nAbout ELEKTRIK\n\n\n\n\nELEKTRIK (2018) is the third exploration of t
he electro urban dancing style by Blanca Li after the show Elektro Ki
f (2009) and the film Elektro Mathématrix (2015). With eight performer
s who have become global references for electro culture and a soundtrack
composed in part by Tao Gutierrez\, ELEKTRIK represents a formidable conc
entration of talent in a cheerful and fun show that can be enjoyed with th
e whole family!\n\nThe three-city tour of ELEKTRIK in India is being pilot
ed by Alliance Française de Bombay.\n\nAbout Production\n\nBlanca Li is a
Director\, Choreographer\, and Filmmaker. Whether she is working with her
own company (The Blanca Li Dance Company) or creating events &amp\; music
als\; staging operas\; directing feature films\; preparing museum installa
tions or working with circus artists\, she creates and produces a multitud
e of projects. A passionate explorer of all that is new\, of cultural mixi
ng\, and of constant reinvention\; she is inspired by a wide variety of so
 urces – dance\, music\, new technologies\, theatre\, cinema\, opera\, fi
ne arts etc.\n\nBorn in Grenada\, Blanca Li became a member of the Spanish
national rhythmic gymnastics team at the age of 12. At 17\, she moved to
New York\, where she studied for five years with Martha Graham and in othe
r schools including Alvin Ailey’s\, Paul Sanasardo’s\, and at the Clar
k Center. Living in Spanish Harlem\, she witnessed first-hand the developm
ent of hip-hop as it was emerging daily and simultaneously created the fla
menco-rap group las Xoxones. When she returned to Spain\, she founded her
first contemporary dance company in Madrid\, which was selected for the pr
ogram of the Universal Exhibition of Seville.\n\nBlanca Li was the first w
oman choreographer to join the prestigious Académie des Beaux-Arts of Par
is\, in 2021.\n\n\nBlanca Li Dance Company\n\nHaving settled in France in
1992\, Blanca Li founded her company in Paris in 1993 and has since create
d many works for her repertoire. In 1998\, she opened her own dance studio
s in Paris (The Calentito Studios). Her creations (including Alarme\, Stre
ss\, Salomé) are often marked with a fusion of disciplines and genres cou
pled with a very Latin sense of humour.\n\nThe Blanca Li Dance Company tac
kles a wide range of themes ranging from the Gnawa trance ceremonies of Ma
rrakesh (Nana et Lila\, 1993) to ancient Greek art (Le Songe du Minotaure\
, 1998)\, to the madness of the contemporary world in the context of the S
eptember 11\, 2001\, terrorist attacks (Borderline\, 2002)\, to the poems
of Federico García Lorca (Poeta en Nueva York\, 2007) and the pictorial w
ork of Hieronymous Bosch with Le Jardin des Délices (2009) which opened t
he Montpellier Danse festival.\n\nElektro Kif brought the electro dance st
yle to the stage for the first time. A new urban style that had developed
in Parisian suburbs in the 2000s\, electro soon took the world by storm wi
th its ultra-fast and sophisticated gestures. ELEKTRIK deploys eight virtu
osos of electro dance and redefines the codes of the genre. The performanc
e was presented at the Suresnes Cité Danses Festival in January 2018 and
is currently on tour.\n\nImage © Laurent Philippe
