 The history of science initiative of the Institut Français in India takes
  you on a first journey into this extraordinary past and the stories of ex
 changes between the top minds of the two countries across centuries right 
 until the modern day through a travelling exhibition.\n\nYes\, a meeting a
 t the Fifth General Assembly of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) i
 n Washington DC in 1962 brought about the meeting of Jacques Blamont\, Fou
 nder of the French Space Agency (CNES) and Mr Vikram Sarabhai\, father of 
 the Indian space programme thereby paving the way for the Indian space pro
 gramme on 21stNovember 1963 with the launch of a sodium vapour payload fro
 m Thumba brought to India by Jacques Blamont. This was followed by three m
 ore rocket-based experiences conducted by the French Centaurus\, a two-sta
 ge solid propellant rocket provided by CNES to ISRO.\n\nBut that’s not a
 ll. It’s not just rocket science!\n\nThe history of science and technolo
 gy is laden with precious gems pointing to an invaluable\, though little k
 nown\, partnership between French and Indian ‘adventurers and pioneers
 ’\, comprising of scientists\, academicians\, entrepreneurs\, institutio
 ns\, engineers and government.\n\nAnd across mathematics\, medicine\, nucl
 ear science\, biodiversity\, aviation\, physics\, visual analytics\, locom
 otives\, astronomy\, cartography and more. At the end of it all\, this his
 tory and shared relationship is about people.\n\nThe history of science in
 itiative of the Institut Français in India takes you on a first journey i
 nto this extraordinary history and the stories of exchanges between the to
 p minds of the two countries across centuries right until the modern-day. 
 This history is still unravelling and more stories will join this fascinat
