Subordinates: Interns on occasion
Organisation TARA Child Protection and Empowerment, www.taraindia.org
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
TARA is a joint venture by two organisations: One Indian Trust named ONYVA and one French NGO/not-for-profit association named CHAYA FRANCE.
Having worked in Delhi for the last 15 years, TARA has established various programs for child protection: 3 Homes for “Children in Need of Care and Protection” registered under the Juvenile and Justice Act, 1 After-care program, 1 Outreach Centre opened in February 2019 in the marginalized community of Saidulajab in South Delhi, 1 Training centre for professionals of child care and protection.
Our sources of funding are organisations /foundations and individual donors. On an average, 50% of our budget was supported by corporate sponsors (via CSR) and 50% by individual donors. We wish to expand the pool of Indian and international individual donors as well as family foundations who support our programs.
We nurture a tight-knit relationship with our individual donors who enjoy the “family touch” of TARA. The individual sponsors can exchange with their sponsored child on regular basis. We offer them a dedicated space on our website where they can see photos, biography and latest news related to the child they support. Some families travel to India to meet the child.
We develop our network of sponsors via social media and digital campaigns but also during events, meetings, and visits of the programs. We also wish to increase our visibility in the media. Our sponsors often recommend TARA to their friends and relatives. We maintain a database of 500 of them. We mostly receive monthly contributions. We also welcome gifts and bequests.
