French Classes (Non-Beginners)

Adult French Classes (Non-Beginner)

Already have some French under your belt? Alliance Française de Delhi’s French Classes (Non-Beginners) course is designed for learners aged 17 and above who have a foundation in the language, offering a dynamic, immersive way to build on what you already know.

If you’ve studied French before or picked up some knowledge along the way, take our Orientation Test to find the course level that’s right for you.

Designed for intermediate and advanced learners, this course goes beyond the basics — deepening your grasp of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuance to build real fluency. Guided by experienced instructors, classes are interactive by design: expect lively discussions, role-plays, and cultural activities that bring the language to life while building a richer understanding of French culture.

What the Course Covers

Designed for intermediate and advanced learners, this course goes well beyond the basics. Classes delve deeper into grammar structures, expand your working vocabulary, and introduce the cultural nuances that are often missing from beginner-level instruction — the kind of context that helps you not just speak French, but understand how French speakers actually think and communicate. The goal throughout is to enhance both proficiency and fluency, moving you from simply knowing the language to being genuinely comfortable using it.

Classes are guided by experienced instructors who bring energy and structure to every session. Rather than passive lectures, you can expect an interactive classroom: lively group discussions, role-play exercises that put your speaking skills to the test, and cultural activities that immerse you in French traditions, media, and ways of life. This approach is intentional — language learning sticks best when it’s active, social, and tied to real cultural context, not just memorization and grammar drills.

Whether your goal is academic, professional, or personal — preparing for study abroad, advancing your career, or simply deepening a passion for the language — this course is structured to help you make meaningful progress each trimester.

Good to know:

  • We run three trimester sessions every year: Jan–Apr (Spring), May–Aug (Summer), and Sept–Dec (Autumn) — so there’s a natural entry point no matter when you’re ready to begin.
  • To pass your class exam, you’ll need a minimum of 50% marks along with 75% attendance. Regular attendance isn’t just a formality — it’s closely tied to how much progress you’ll actually make, given how interactive the sessions are.
  • The Class Pass Certificate you receive at the end of a course is for academic record purposes only. It reflects your progress within our program but is not a substitute for internationally recognised proficiency credentials. For that, you’ll need to sit one of the official CEFRL-based exams — TCF, TEF, or DELF–DALF — which are recognised globally as the benchmark for French language proficiency.
  • The Orientation Test (Adults) is mandatory for anyone enrolling in a non-beginner level (A1.2 and above) who cannot produce a valid certificate — AF Network Certificate, DELF–DALF Diploma, TCF, or TEF — issued within the last 6 months to 1 year. If you already hold one of these certificates and would like to enroll laterally into a non-beginner course without retaking the orientation test, please get in touch with our Front Desk via the Contact Us form, and our team will guide you through the process.
