 The French Embassy in India in association with Alliance Française de Delhi, Artalive Gallery and Palette Art gallery will present an exhibition of Sujata Bajaj followed by a book launch of the book ‘La Difference’ written by Michel Waldberg.

Sujata Bajaj was born in 1958, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. She graduated and Mastered in Art and Painting form Pune, Maharashtra. As influence of tribal art and culture led her to a Ph.D. on Indian Tribal’, which titled ‘The special features of Indian Tribal Art and its influence on Contemporary Trends of Art’. She also studied at Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts, Paris, on French Government scholarship in 1998-89.

She has held around 25 individual shows in India and over 20 international shows and participated in more than a dozen group shows across India and abroad including U.K., France Norway and Los Angeles. Recent amongst her selected shows are: Solo Exhibitions: ‘Fire and Water’ at Chemould Art Gallery, Mumbai in 2005; ‘Sublimation’ at Gallery Art & Soul, Mumbai in 2007; and several solo shows at Paris, Norway an recently did a show titled “The Journey”, at New York Academy of Art, USA and at Saffron Art and Osborne Samuel-Berkeley Square Gallery, London, U.K in 2008. Among the selected Group Shows are : ‘S.H Raza and Sujata Bajaj’, at New York, 2005; ‘ The Power of Peace’, at United Nations on Bali,Indonesia; ‘Roop Vidhan’ and ‘Swasti Roop’ organized by Art Alive, at New Delhi, in 2005 and 2007 respectively , amongst others. She has also imparted talks on Tribal Art at Washington University, USA; Princeton University, USA; Commonwealth Centre, Edinburgh, UK; Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, France amongst others.

Her works are held by various National and International Collections, like the: Lalit Kala Akademi, Maharashtra State, Air India, Philip India , World Bank , Indian Merchants Chambers, Solidaire International Marketing, Cultural Ministry of Norway, Philips Holland and several other private and public collections around the globe.

She was conferred with Chancellor’s  Award, S.N.D.T University, Mumbai, selected for International Youth Achievements by Cambridge University, U.K. in 1986 and also holder of ‘Raza Award ’in 2003,Bombay Art Society Award and the Maharashtra State Art Award. She lives and works in Paris.
