AFD Cine-Club Screening – Breathless / À bout de souffle
Alliance Française de Delhi is delighted to invite you to the screening of Breathless (À bout de souffle), a masterpiece of French New Wave cinema directed by Jean-Luc Godard.
The film follows Michel Poiccard, a small-time criminal who steals a car in Marseille, kills a policeman, and escapes to Paris. There, he meets Patricia, an American student selling the New York Herald Tribune. As Michel seeks money from old acquaintances and hides with Patricia, their relationship unfolds amidst crime, passion, and existential uncertainty.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential films in the history of cinema, Breathless broke traditional filmmaking conventions and became a defining work of the Nouvelle Vague (French New Wave).
