About the Film
As a young military doctor, Dr Charles Ryan served with the Turkish Army, earning the respect and admiration of Turkish soldiers. Years later, during the Gallipoli Campaign, he served as a medical officer with the Australian Army, dedicating himself to saving lives.
His compassion and respect for people on both sides inspired remarkable acts of humanity during a temporary armistice, showing that even amid war, friendship, dignity and mutual respect can endure.
