Suggestions for June 2024

Veiller sur elle

Jean-Baptiste Andrea is a French writer, director and scriptwriter. “Veiller sur elle” received two major awards in 2023: Le prix Goncourt and the FNAC novel prize. The author unfolds this wonderful tale of friendship that invites reflection on art, against a historical backdrop spanning the 20th century, from the First World War to the defeat of the Mussolini regime, including a rise of fascism that forces young Mimo to compromise between his art and his convictions. All of this is conveyed through a poetic and profoundly humane writing style.

L'Éléphant

L’Éléphant is a French quarterly magazine of general culture launched in year 2013. It is a new addition in the French library this year. With having received only two editions, it is one of the most popular magazines amongst our readers. In this edition, they delve deep into the complex and multi faced topic of violence. The standout article examines the intricacies of human nature and the challenging task of defining violence.

40 LGBT + qui ont changé le monde

Florent Manelli has drawn 40 portraits of activists, personalities, celebrities, or unknown individuals who, in their own ways, have advanced the LGBT+ movement.

Educational, informative, and sensitive, this book will, in many respects, make its contribution to the various LGBT+ struggles, pay tribute, and remember those who have paved the way, as well as highlight what remains to be accomplished. This book shines a light on those who have fought and continue to fight every day to create a more inclusive and supportive world.
