Ciné Club – September & October 2010 Back on Fridays! Rethinking film Alliance Française de Delhi is keen to build on its longstanding reputation as a centre for cinematic excellence by introducing a two-fold dynamic into its programme. Film screenings will now follow a theme each month under the broad umbrella of French and Francophone cinema and will reflect our understanding of the role of the Alliance as a bridge between language, between genres and between cultures. We are also proud to introduce a cinema forum that will encourage academic and intellectual debate on the Seventh Art. The forum, echoing the monthly cinematic theme, is uniquely positioned as a platform to discuss and engage with culturally and socially relevant issues. We look forward to welcoming academics, historians, activists, film scholars, and film-makers to present their work and ideas. Cinema is a vibrant and engaging medium – we are happy to provide an equally vibrant, interactive, and scholarly venue with which to engage with its ever-changing, endlessly appealing image.
