Re-evaluation of DELF DALF exams

Please note that re-evaluation for DELF/DALF examinations is not permitted. All papers undergo a rigorous dual assessment process by a panel of examiners before the results are published, ensuring accuracy and fairness.

Once declared, the results are considered final. In accordance with the regulations of France Éducation International, requests for re-evaluation of DELF/DALF grades cannot be accepted.

Re-taking of DELF DALF exams

You may choose to retake the DELF DALF  examination for two reasons:

  • If you did not pass and wish to attempt it again
  • If you passed but are not satisfied with your score

Retaking DELF to Pass

There is no restriction on the number of attempts for the DELF exam. However, it is advisable not to repeatedly attempt the same level without adequate preparation. If you do not succeed, it may indicate that the level is currently too advanced. In such cases, opting for a lower level can improve your chances of success.

Unlike score-based exams such as TOEFL or TOEIC, the DELF/DALF focuses on successfully achieving the appropriate level rather than obtaining a high score. For example, earning a DELF B1 with 50/100 is more valuable than scoring 70/100 at the A2 level. Choosing the right level is therefore essential for success.

Retaking DELF to Improve Your Score

Candidates may also retake a level they have already passed to improve their score. However, this requires formally surrendering the previously obtained diploma. If the new attempt is unsuccessful, the earlier diploma will no longer be valid.

For this reason, Alliance Française de Delhi recommends focusing on progressing to higher levels rather than retaking a level already achieved.
