Director’s Blog March 2026

A Message on Student Wellness from the Director

As spring approaches, it is the perfect time to pause and reflect on what makes the campus of Alliance Française de Delhi such a welcoming and enriching place to study. Beyond learning French, our community is built on care, safety, culture, and well-being. In this Director’s Blog March 2026, I would shares a few reminders and opportunities designed to support students’ wellness on campus.

A Safe and Respectful Environment

At Alliance Française de Delhi, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment is our top priority. The institute strictly follows POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) policies.

If at any point you—or someone you know—feel uncomfortable, harassed, or unsafe, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can speak with your teacher, the academic team, or the dedicated committee through the Director’s Assistant, Mrs. Suri. Support is always available, and your well-being matters to us.

Meet Our Campus Mascots: Cheese & Naan 🐾

Some of you may already know the unofficial mascots of the AFD campus—Cheese and Naan.

When Director Patricia Loison first joined AFD, she missed her dog in Paris and felt the campus needed its own little companions. Soon enough, Cheese and Naan arrived as tiny kittens and have since grown into confident residents who roam the campus like little tigers!

Studies have shown that spending time with animals can reduce stress and anxiety, making them perfect companions during a busy day of studying. While they are not allowed in classrooms or the café, you are welcome to say hello, play with them, or enjoy a calming moment with a gentle purr. Sometimes, a little ronron can brighten your entire day.

Nourish Your Mind Through Culture 🎭

Wellness is not only physical—it is also intellectual and emotional.

The AFD campus regularly hosts films, theatre performances, art exhibitions, and talks that offer a refreshing break from daily routines. Cultural experiences can expand your perspective, inspire creativity, and provide moments of reflection.

Director Patricia Loison encourages students to take advantage of these opportunities:

“Ne vous privez pas de l’incroyable accès à la culture qu’offre le campus de l’AFD!”
(Don’t deprive yourself of the incredible access to culture that the AFD campus offers!)

In particular, many students have yet to explore the AFD Art Gallery—a space dedicated to contemporary art and cultural dialogue. Visiting the gallery is not just enriching for your culture générale; it is also a wonderful way to recharge mentally.

Wellness Activities on Campus

To further support student well-being, AFD has introduced two special wellness activities.

🧘 Yoga Class (Free)
The yoga class is generously taught by the spouse of the Ukrainian Ambassador, a certified instructor. It was initially scheduled at 9:00 AM every Monday, but the timing may not be convenient for many students. We are currently considering shifting the class to lunchtime (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM) on Tuesdays or Thursdays and would love to hear your feedback.

💃 Salsa Class (Every Monday, 5:30 PM)
Organized in partnership with the Delhi Salsa Club, this lively dance class is a great way to unwind after your lessons. Salsa is not only fun but also helps build confidence, meet new people, and stay active.

After all, “Un esprit sain dans un corps sain”—a healthy mind in a healthy body.

A Campus That Cares

At Alliance Française de Delhi, we are proud to cultivate a supportive and vibrant community where students can learn, explore, and grow. Whether it is attending a cultural event, enjoying a quiet moment with Cheese and Naan, or joining a wellness class, there are many ways to make the most of campus life.

We look forward to seeing you in the gallery, at a dance class, or sharing a friendly moment with our feline mascots.

Warm regards,
Patricia Loison
