The Father (Le Père )

As part of the vibrant celebrations of the Francophonie month, Alliance Française de Delhi presents a powerful theatrical experience: The Father, the internationally acclaimed play by Florian Zeller. Directed by Mohit Tripathi and brought to the stage by Renaissance Theatre Society, this production promises an evening of deeply moving storytelling.

Recipient of the prestigious Molière Award, The Father is a gripping tragi-comic mystery that immerses audiences in the fragile and disorienting world of André, a man living with dementia. As his perception of reality begins to fracture, the play unfolds through shifting perspectives—placing the audience directly inside his mind. His daughter Anne, meanwhile, is faced with increasingly difficult decisions about care, independence, and dignity, making this an intimate and emotionally resonant exploration of family, memory, and identity.

Darkly humorous yet profoundly unsettling, the play offers a raw and unsentimental look at the human condition. It captures both the psychological and physical realities of dementia, presenting a deeply empathetic portrayal that lingers long after the curtain falls.
