AT M.L. BHARTIA AUDITORIUM – ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE DELHI

2007, 52 min

Through two generations of farmers in the Côtes d’Armor, this film tackles the controversial issue of water pollution because of the excesses of industrial agriculture in Brittany.
Etienne, the father, has known the job in its traditional way, with horses and manual reaping. When modernization has brought its machines and products, along with domestic comfort, he has adopted it wholeheartedly. Encouraged by the agricultural technicians, he has poured fertilizers, pesticides and liquid manure on a large scale, without asking any questions. Yields were impressive. When his son, Joseph, has come back from the school of agriculture, he continued with pleasure this game with nature, until he realizes that his neighbor, the producer of mussels, found himself regularly prohibited from marketing his fishing. Following the story of the awareness of Joseph and his difficult conversion, the film considers the possibility of another agriculture, which would find, finally, a balance with nature.
