Orientation Test

orientation testOrientation test help us to assesses your current level of proficiency in French.  The key to mastering a new language and having a wonderful learning experience is to start with a class at your level! If you already have some knowledge of French and/ or have taken French lessons in the past, this test will help us determine which course is the right one for you.

Why should you take the Test?

Taking the AFD orientation test is important for several reasons:

  1. Accurate Skill Assessment: The test assesses your current level of proficiency in French. This ensures that you are placed in a class that matches your language skills, allowing you to learn at an appropriate pace.
  2. Classroom Compatibility: Being in a class with peers at the same proficiency level enhances the learning environment. It allows for more effective group activities, discussions, and collaborative learning, as everyone is at a similar stage in their language acquisition journey.
  3. Efficient Use of Time and Resources: Starting at the correct level prevents you from wasting time on material that is too easy or too difficult. This efficient use of time and resources helps you achieve your language learning goals more quickly.
  4. Confidence Building: Being placed in the right class can boost your confidence. If the level is too high, you might feel overwhelmed; if it’s too low, you might get bored. The right placement keeps you challenged and engaged.
  5. Certification and Progress Tracking: The AFD often provides certification for different levels of language proficiency. Taking the test helps in accurately documenting your starting point and tracking your progress through the different levels of certification.
Please Note:
  1. Anybody who wishes to assess their current level of proficiency in French can choose to take this Orientation Test. There is no obligation to enroll for a course after taking the Test.
  2. If you are a complete beginner, you can enroll directly in an A1.1 course without taking an orientation test.
