- Admissions are granted on a first-come-first-served basis. One is enrolled after full payment of the tuition fees.
- Classes will run subject to a minimum number of participants. AFD reserves the right to cancel a class with less than 12 students registered.
- All students must fill the application form. Contact numbers should be mentioned.
- All details related to the courses are subject to change without notice. Please regularly check our general information notice board or our website.
- Once chosen, a class or timing option cannot be changed.
- Students already familiar with the French language are requested to sit for an orientation test (fee applicable) to be placed at the correct level. The decision of the teacher assessing the test will be final.
- Two recent passport-size photographs are required for registration at AFD.
- Cheques / Drafts should be made in favour of Alliance Française de Delhi.
- Cheques / Drafts drawn on banks outside Delhi are not accepted. Post-dated cheques are not accepted.
- In case your cheque is returned, a charge of Rs. 250/- will be imposed. Subsequent payments will be accepted only in cash immediately, or your enrollment stands canceled.
- A student who has lost his / her identity card should notify it in writing to AFD. A charge of Rs. 200/- will be applied to get a duplicate.
- 70% attendance is required to appear for the end of term exams.
- Photocopying of textbooks is an offense punishable by law. Students will not be allowed in the class with the photocopies of the textbooks.
- NO TRANSFER / NO REFUND IN THE EVENT OF CANCELLATION BY STUDENT, irrespective of the reasons for canceling the course.
- All students must abide by the decision of the Director / Academic Director of AFD. The management reserves the right to cancel admission if any student commits a breach of discipline.

AFD may update these terms from time to time, and any changes will be effective immediately on being set out here. Please ensure you are aware of the current terms. AFD management’s decision will be last & final.
AFD may send you emails / SMS on the number/ email ID provided by you regarding AFD events or class-related information.
“I accept to receive SMS alerts from the Alliance Française de Delhi”. AFD provides classroom-based French Learning. The course duration is normally 3.5 months. Students register (and pay) for the next-level batch after clearing the batch they are enrolled in (if existing student).
Please read these terms carefully before using the online payment facility. Using the online payment facility on this website indicates that you accept these terms. If you do not accept these terms, do not use this facility.
Please note AFD shall follow government guidelines at all times with regard to organization of classes, in both cases for offline as well as online.
1. All payments are subject to the following conditions:
- All deposits/payments are in INR Indian National Rupee.
- We cannot accept liability if payment is refused or declined by the credit/debit card supplier for any reason.
- If the card supplier declines payment, AFD is under no obligation to bring this fact to your attention.’ If in any doubt, you should check with your bank/credit/debit card supplier whether payment has been deducted from your account.
- In no event will AFD be liable for any damages whatsoever arising out of use, inability to use, or the results of this site, any websites linked to this site, or the materials or information contained at any or all such sites.
- The user will have to bear the charges (transaction/government taxes etc.) while making the online payments to seek admission in AFD.
- AFD’s third-party provided credit card transaction system may decline certain card types for online payments.
- AFD does not guarantee that the use of this website will be compatible with all hardware and software which may be used by visitors to this site.
2. AFD reserves the right to suspend, amend or cancel batch(s) at any time. In such cases, the user is given two options either to accept a transfer to any other batch of the same level or take a refund.
3. Online Class
- You are required to turn on your video camera while you are taking online class.
4. Refund Policy
- Only if the academic department of AFD cancels any batch only then the fee is refunded as a second option. See the previous point 2 for more detail.
- NO TRANSFER / NO REFUND IN THE EVENT OF CANCELLATION BY THE STUDENT, irrespective of the reasons for cancelling the course.
- AFD doesn’t allow for any trial class – so asking for a refund after attending a single class is unacceptable. Similarly, if enrolled into a batch, and if the student is unable to attend the batch (at a mentioned time/days at the AFD premises) due to any reason (if not communicated to AFD before batch start date by proper email channel), will also not be liable for refund/ transfer (refer to point 2 mentioned above: “transfer to any other batch of the same Level”).
5. Security
- AFD does not collect or store any card details. The payment process is completed by the secure site of the bank.
- AFD shall not be liable for any failure by the person making payment to properly protect data from being seen on their screen by other persons or otherwise obtained by such persons during the online payment processor regarding any omission to provide accurate information in the course of the online payment process.
FAQ
Q: The registration link is there but I could not register for – Classes/ Orientation Test/ DELF Examination?
A: The online registration portal is always there on the website but is only active during the registration period decided by the institution. Keep yourself updated through our website before the beginning of the sessions; one-month prior for beginners and 15 days prior for higher levels. Our sessions begin in January, May, September of each year.

Q: What is my user id for online registration?
A: Your registered email id will be your user id for any kind of registration. Please contact our front desk team in case of any changes in the registered information.
Q: How do I get my password to log in for online registration?
A: You will be required to generate your password by clicking on the tab “get a password” after entering your registered id. The password will then be shared with you on your registered email id. Please check your junk/spam folders if you don’t receive the password in your inbox.
Q: Can I register online if I haven’t cleared the session?
A: Yes, you can still register through our online registration platform
Q: Can I register online if I haven’t cleared one part of an intensive batch?
A: Yes, you will be able to still register through the online registration platform. Please check for Stage/ Remedial classes with your teacher in order to clear both parts of the intensive program.
Q: Can I register online for classes if I have taken a gap of one session?
A: Yes, you will be able to register through the online registration platform even with a session gap.
Q: Can I register online for classes if I have taken gap of more than one session?
A: No, you will be required to take up the Orientation Test. For further information, contact our front desk team at the details mentioned on our website.
Q: Is there any fee to appear for the Orientation Test?
A: Yes, you need to pay the registration fee applicable for the test. Currently, the cost of OT test is Rs. 950.00 including GST.
Q: I am an existing student and wish to appear for Orientation Examination to skip a level. How can I go about it?
A: Existing students cannot take up the Orientation Test unless they take a gap of two sessions. Another option to enrol directly in non-beginner’s level is through your DELF/DALF result which is taken within 1 year with the criteria as mentioned below in one of the FAQs.
Q: I had appeared for the Orientation Test – will I be able to register online for the classes?
A: Yes, You can register through our online registration portal according to the level assigned to you through the test. For further information, contact our course counsellors.
Q: For how long the Orientation Test result is valid for admissions?
A: The result is valid for 2 immediate sessions from the date of the test.
Q: I have given Orientation Test but not satisfied with the level assigned.
A: The test assesses you in totality. It’s a combined score of your performance in all four sections of the language – Reading/ Writing/ Listening and Speaking. There is a possibility that you might have done well in a few section/s, but lacked in other/s. Our team of faculty members decides your level, keeping in mind the teaching quality of AF.
Q: What is the difference between DELF/DALF and Orientation Test?
- DELF/DALF – is an International exam. It’s a French Language Diploma issued by the French Ministry of Education
- Orientation Test – The orientation test is taken by a candidate who already knows French to get his level assessed and then be oriented to the right level of a French language course at AF.
Q: I want to appear for the DELF/TCF examination. Is there any short term course to help me in my preparation?
A: We offer preparatory courses for DELF B1/B2 and TCF examination only on demand. You may contact the Front desk for more information. Additionally, we offer PrepMyFuture product which is an online platform that will help to prepare for exams with its adaptive content and dedicated e-learning material by reviewing key grammar points and practising the same through course sheets and exercises along with identifying weaknesses through immediate detailed feedback.
Q: I have never taken classes at AFD before, but I have taken DELF examination. What is the criteria?
A: You should have appeared for the DELF examination in the past one year. The minimum score required to take admission to the next level is 70% in total and a minimum of 12.5 out of 25 in each competency – Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
Q: Can I register directly with the result based on my DELF/DALF examination if I fulfil the criteria?
A: Contact our counsellors once you obtain your DELF/DALF result to get an approval from the higher authorities and proceed with the process.
Q: I am an existing student and I want to skip one level as I have already cleared my DELF examination for that level. Will I be able to register online?
A: You will not be able to register online. Contact our counsellors once you obtain your DELF/DALF result to get an approval from the higher authorities and proceed with the process.
Q: What if I don’t fulfil the criteria for admission based on the DELF examination, if I don’t score the required percentage, will I not get the admission in the classes of the next level?
A: Contact our Front Desk team with your scores to discuss the level that can be assigned to you in this case.
Q: Will I get any confirmation email after online registration/ How do I know my registration is confirmed if I do it on your online portal?
A: The online registration is complete when you make the payment. As soon as you pay, the system generates an invoice pdf and confirmation mail. This invoice in itself is the confirmation of your registration. You can view and download the invoice/payment pdf and class details on online registration portal.
Q: What if I do not receive the invoice after making the payment?
A: You can download it from online registration portal. Please contact the Front Desk if you still face an issue.
Q: Will I get a certificate after completion of my course?
A: Yes, you can download the course completion certificate from online registration portal on Kiosque. Please contact the Front Desk if you face an issue.
Q: Can I change my batch after admission or take a refund if I do not want to continue classes further due to any personal/professional reasons?
A: We strictly follow NO TRANSFER/ NO REFUND policy once the registration is complete.
Q: I want to be taught by a specific professor or change my current professor. How can I proceed further?
A: You cannot choose the professor. To provide you with an experience of holistic learning of the foreign language, we ensure that the students are taught by different teachers to attain flexibility while exploring the language through different methodologies. All our teachers are well trained and qualified.
Q: I want to take classes in a hybrid mode preferably in a smaller group. Is that possible?
A: We do not offer a hybrid modality. You can take classes either in online or offline mode. Each batch has a seating capacity of 20 students in an offline class and 17 students in an online class.
Q: I have registered in a course and want to know about the evaluation procedure.
A: We follow a process of continuous evaluation hence you will be assessed throughout the session on the basis of your participation through class assignments. It is also mandatory to attain 70% attendance.
Q: I want to learn at my own pace. Can I have private classes?
A: Yes, we do offer private classes. Classes can be conducted through both online or face-to-face modality with mutual consent between the professor and the student.
