Revisiting May 68 : The Myth and the Debate

If new memories of 1968 have begun to surface in France and in the world in recent years, then it is certainly due in part to the historical significance of this event for the younger generations of rebels and dissenters around the globe. The subversive potential of the movement lay in the way it created something like a chain reaction across the entire intellectual, artistic and political domains and opened the door to new sociological and philosophical interpretations of the 20th century.

‘It wails; it shouts in his body. Something is suffocating… His skin bag feels too tight. Something is missing. Some anger and violence are inside him. As far as he can remember, he always loved to fight… That’s why when he meets the Kalaripayattu master, he thinks he will learn from him the secrets to become a great fighter. But in fact, the latter teaches him how to fight his demons, his fears, his ego. The master teaches him how to dance with the elements, earth, water, fire, air and ether as well as with the wild beasts. But will he let “his body become all eyes,” always in a state of alertness, one with Nature, one with Shakti — the deep feminine energy that makes everything move?
This is the journey of a man who discovers his deep union with Mother Earth (Bhu). Beyond a story, this show invites the audience to an itinerary, accessible to everyone. A universal experience.

In the month of June, the whole world celebrates music in its different forms and manifestations through the “Fête de la Musique”, a day dedicated to the promotion of music, created by the French Ministry of Culture which first took place in 1982 in Paris. Since this first edition, this event has known a growing success, and has become an international highlight of amateur and professional practice and of musical diversity. This is also a very special occasion for many people in many different countries to attend free live performances, in all kinds of places, even the most unusual ones.

John Anthony and Claire Le Michel met in Trivandrum in Feb 2017. They shared thoughts on improvisations of Music and dance. It is a confluence of two cultures through music and dance. The musical compositions are a blend of the Oriental and the West. Similarly, the dance is a coming together of cultures.
