The European Day of Languages has been celebrated since 2001. Millions of people in all member states of the Council of Europe celebrate this day. But it is not only in Europe that this day is celebrated. In the South Asia region, we have been celebrating this day since 2019 in cooperation with schools and cultural and foreign representations of various European countries.
It is important to draw attention to the diversity of European languages. But we also want to highlight the exchange between all languages in such a colourful and language-rich space as South Asia. To this end, in this special year 2021, the anniversary year of the European Day of Languages, we invite artists, poets to speak about language, its migration and transformation. All our guests are emissaries of cultural exchange as they move transculturally in the global world and make language the subject of exchange.
