Alliance Française de Delhi (AFD) is pleased to announce the Merit-cum-Means AFD Scholarship Autumn 2026, a French language scholarship in India designed to support motivated learners of French in Delhi who face financial challenges while demonstrating strong academic performance.
About the AFD Scholarship
The Merit-cum-Means scholarship is a need-based scholarship for French learners, intended for Indian nationals who are not already covered under other existing scholarship schemes at Alliance Française Delhi. It is open to students who have studied at AFD for at least one term, have shown academic capability, and are unable to meet the cost of their French course.
AFD Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To apply for this financial aid for French classes in Delhi, applicants must meet the following conditions:
General Eligibility
Students must be Indian nationals who have completed at least one term of any French course at AFD. Their income — or that of their parents/guardians, in the case of dependents — must fall below the threshold of net income exempt from tax under Government of India rules.
Academic Eligibility
Students should have obtained a minimum of 70% in their last AFD term examination and maintained at least 70% attendance prior to applying for the merit scholarship.
Scholarship Benefits: French Course Fee Waiver
- Valid only for the Autumn 2026 admissions session
- Applicable to weekday classes only
- A maximum of five scholarships will be awarded per term
- Fee waivers ranging from 75% to 100% on tuition and admission fees, depending on the merit of each case (fees already paid at the time of admission will be reimbursed for shortlisted students)
- Students are responsible for the cost of books
- Basic library membership is included
Selection Process
- Applications will be reviewed by an internal committee at Alliance Française de Delhi
- Selection will be based on academic performance, financial need, and overall merit
- The decision of Alliance Française de Delhi is final and binding
How to Apply for the AFD Scholarship
- Complete the scholarship application form, along with supporting documents for academic merit and financial need (such as an income certificate, BPL card, or IT return). Note: Court affidavits will not be accepted.

AFD Scholarship Last Date:
Applications must be received by 5:00 PM on Thursday, 21st August 2026. Results: To be declared by 5:00 PM on Monday, 24th August 2026 (subject to change).

- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
- This scholarship cannot be combined with any other discount or offer
