Before You Apply
Before starting your application, make sure you have the following ready:
- A recent passport-size photograph (digital format – JPEG, PNG, etc. – for upload) – front-facing, with your face clearly visible.
- A valid government-issued ID (digital format – JPEG, PNG, etc. – for upload) – showing both your identity and current address (e.g., Aadhar Card, Passport, or Driving License).

Steps to Update Candidate Information (PDF)
To upload your photo and documents, log in to your AFD Student Portal using your registered email address. Forgotten your password? Simply click “Recover my password” on the login page to reset it.
Instructions for New Students
If you’re a new student applying for the first time:
- Make sure your profile photo, full name, and address proof are accurate, clearly legible, and correctly uploaded to your Student Portal.
- To receive a Student ID cum Library Card, you must pay a one-time refundable library caution deposit of Rs. 2,000/- to the Cashier at the AFD Reception.
- If this deposit is not paid, you will only receive a Student ID Card (without library borrowing privileges).
- A Student ID Card (without the library deposit) grants limited access, including:
- Browsing and reading books on-site
- Using public library computers
- Attending workshops
- Access to recreational facilities like PlayStation
- Note: Book borrowing/loan privileges are not included without the library deposit.
Renewal Instructions for Existing Students
If your Student ID or Library Card has expired, Show your expired Student ID/Library Card, along with updated documents uploaded if required.
Please note:
- Your first card is issued free of cost.
- A replacement fee of Rs. 200/- applies in the following cases:
- Card lost
- Photo update/reprint
- Adding library membership to an existing card
- Name change
Photo Requirements for Student ID Card
Your uploaded photograph must meet the following criteria to avoid processing delays:
